North Dakota Beer Initiative |
The final nail in the coffin for prohibition in North Dakota came with a special election on Sept. 5, 1933, when voters approved overwhelmingly for the ND Beer initiative, which legalized the manufacture, distribution and sale of 3.2 beer in the state.
After the enactment of the law, 1930 licenses were sold to liquor producers, which created a new source of revenue to the state totaling $134,000, in addition to a large sum of tax revenue. |
